Decrease video hardware acceleration on your computer
Note: Make sure to note what your video hardware acceleration was before adjusting it in case you need to change it back later.
To decrease graphics hardware acceleration in Windows XP:
1. Right click on the Windows Desktop where there are no icons. Click Properties in the pop-up menu. This will bring up the Display Properties.
2. Click the Settings tab, then the Advanced button. This should bring up the properties window for your video card.
3. Click the Troubleshoot tab. On this tab will be the Hardware Acceleration slider bar.
4. Click the Hardware Acceleration slider and drag it to the left one notch to decrease acceleration.
5. Click OK on the video card properties then OK on the Display Properties.
Now try playing the game. If the problem persists repeat steps 1-6, changing the hardware acceleration one notch each time.
