Pirate Rigging: also a challenge

It occurs to me that, with a few modifications, you could use the same basic technique for making spider webs to make pirate rigging. (If say, you knew a kid who was obsessed with another current blockbuster trilogy of films).

Ships RiggingStart out the exact same way, except that you probably want to use brown, or yellow thread instead of black. (Y’know, something rope-colored). To look more like rope and less like spider webbing, try using two or three strands of yarn twisted together. (If you want to be completely insane, you could braid them like real rope, but I know that I lack that kind of patience).

Instead of tying all the strands into one big knot at the end, tie them to another, identical cardboard tube (or stick, or whatever). It’s important that all the yarn-strands are the same length so that they will all be paralell and taut.

Also, when you tie (or glue) in the cross-pieces, you should include less slack than you would for a spider web.
