Does your child have the rainy day blues? No need to worry, just head straight to the bathroom for a truly tropical experience inside your very own home! Have your child grab a pair of goofy sunglasses and put their swim gear on, and transform your bathtub into a luxury pool at a beachside resort. You don’t need sandy shores and crashing waves, just your imagination and possibly a pail and shovel.

Try out some of these fun ideas to make your beach getaway a memorable experience. Give your child cups of Kool-Aid and snacks on a tray so they feel like they are really being served poolside. Join in on the fun by playing the role of the lifeguard, complete with a whistle in order to signal when it’s time for a swim break. After a swim, dry them off with a colorful beach towel and let them “lay out” on a big comfy blanket on the bathroom floor. They can even build “sandcastles” out of Legos.

This enriching activity helps to turn a dreary day into sunny summertime enjoyment with the help of a lot of imagination and a few beach props. Be creative and have fun. But whatever you do, don’t forget to apply sun block.
