Tired of playing the same old board games time and time again? Spruce up family game night by creating your own games and puzzles for each other! You can make up your own word searches, crossword puzzles, or mazes. Get all the family members involved and then switch games with one another while sitting around the kitchen table. It’s really easy to do!

Making a game is fun for all family members. Help small children draw a maze if they are having trouble with more complex games like crossword puzzles. Word searches are a great way for children to learn spelling and can help them to expand their vocabulary. Be sure to inform all family members to make each game simple enough that anyone at the table can complete it.

Keep some “brain food” nearby during this mental activity to boost thinking power. Fresh fruits and vegetables help you to concentrate, keep you motivated, and can even help to prevent brain aging! Pretzels or rice cakes also make for healthy munchies. And don’t forget a pitcher of delicious lemonade.

However you choose to coordinate your family game night, remember that puzzles are not only fun but educational and mind-stimulating. All family members can help to solve more challenging puzzles and encourage one another to keep trying. Be inventive and prepare ahead to ensure that your next family game night is a success.
